Thierry Rendall plays again 322 days later
The Valencia CF full-back, recovered from his anterior cruciate ligament tear, returned to competition against FC Barcelona at the Estadi Johan Cruyff
In the Copa del Rey quarterfinals at Mestalla, Hugo Duro was once again the protagonist. Three years after the move that saw him block a shot from his own teammate that led to Valencia CF going through against Getafe CF, the striker scored the winning goal for Valencia CF against Cadiz. He spoke to VCF Media after the game to talk about the progression to the semifinals.
Mestalla
It's been easy to adapt here. The team have made it easy and the fans have shown affection for me from day one. I'm very grateful.
His involvement in both goals
For the first goal, I was fighting for the ball. They said that it was a foul, but this is football and there is contact. At times other fouls are called that aren't fouls. For the second goal, the ball hit me, rather than me striking it. I was in position, as always, trying to look for a goal, and it arrived.
Excitement about the semifinals
It's exciting. I'm young. Being able to take part in games like this here is amazing. We are going to play another game here, which is even more important. We're very motivated. The final is two games away and we are going to give our all to get there. The team are confident and playing well. We are going to try to get into the final however we can.
Carrying the form over into the league
We have to focus on LaLiga now, where we also have to be on top. We will use this dynamic and try to play like we did today.
